Chef Sahid Shaikh specializes in the preparation of authentic Indian food, often using traditional spices and cooking methods. Born in Kolkata, in eastern India, Sahid Shaikh established his creative flair with food early on in his life. He began his career by working for a set of prestigious hotel restaurants in Kolkata in 1994. His culinary skills permitted him to travel to countries like Malaysia and Singapore. Upon arriving in Australia, he maintained his rate of success by becoming the sous-chef for Qantas Airlines for four and half years. He opened his own restaurant ‘7 Village Indian Restaurant’ on 19th September, 2012. This restaurant quickly grabbed the attention of critics and foodies and today it is regarded as one of the best restaurants of Canberra. The menu at the restaurant bears his mark, and the recipes are authentic Indian with a diversity of flavours and regional cuisines found in modern day India.
